Dr Gao Meng named in Forbes China 30 Under 30 List

Dr Gao Meng, Assistant Professor of the Department of Geography, has been named as one of the 30 outstanding people in China under the age of 30 in the field of science and medical health in 2020, according to the Forbes China 30 under 30 list.
Dr Gao joined the Department of Geography in July 2019. His main research interests include air quality modelling, chemistry-weather-climate interactions and environmental health. After obtaining a bachelor's degree from the Department of Atmospheric Physics, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, in 2012, he received a full scholarship to study as a graduate student in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Iowa, US. He obtained a master's degree in chemical engineering in 2015 and a PhD in advance in the same year. He worked as a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University from 2016 to 2019.
Dr Gao has published 18 peer-reviewed papers as the first author/corresponding author in top-tier journals, including Science Advances, and these have been cited more than 1,600 times. He is currently a member of the World Meteorological Organization's Global Air Quality Prediction and Information System Steering Committee. His research has been recognised in multiple awards, including the European Geoscience Union Atmospheric Science Division Outstanding Young Scientist Award, and as the US Department of Energy Atmospheric Chemistry Emerging Senior Scientist.
