Dr. Duan is an assistant professor of the Department of Sport, Physical Education and Health, Hong Kong Baptist University. She has diverse research interests in the areas of health behavior promotion and sport psychology. Dr. Duan’s main research area focuses on the environmental, psycho-social and socio-cultural factors of physical activity, physical activity behavior change process and its underlying psychosocial mechanism. She has published more than 50 peer-reviewed international publications which cover diverse samples (e.g., university students and staff, office-based employees, older adults, cardiac rehabilitation patients) applying various approaches including observation, interview, questionnaire survey, onsite-, web- and app-based interventions. Currently Dr. Duan is overseeing and conducting a research project under the theme of Research Network on Healthy Ageing funded by the HKBU (HK$ 232,200). This project aims to develop and examine a centre and web-based blended lifestyle intervention to promote physical activity, diet and health in Hong Kong community-dwelling older adults. The project team members consist of researchers in the areas of health psychology, sport science, Chinese medicine and computer science with an interdisciplinary nature. Dr. Duan is the Executive Committee member of Behavior and Health Division of China Psychology Society, the Executive Committee member of Australasian Society for Physical Activity, the Associate Editor of Health Psychology Section in Frontiers in Psychology, and the Asian Editor of the American Journal of Health Behavior.
